Matt Freedman

Chief Development Officer 

Matt Freedman is the Chief Development Officer for the Y in Central Maryland. In this role, Matt leads all of the Y’s fundraising initiatives, including the annual and capital campaigns, and the completion of the Y’s $16 million Invest in Baltimore’s Future Mission Expansion campaign.

Matt brings over 20 years of nonprofit development experience to the Y. He spent the past four years as Senior Vice President, Development for national renewable energy nonprofit Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE). Prior to SAFE, he spent his entire career in the Jewish Federation movement, holding several leadership roles, including Chief Strategy and Development Officer at The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore where he helped to develop and implement a new resource development model which spurred the growth of the organization’s revenue and donor base, averaging $45 million in total annual fundraising.

Matt has a bachelor’s degree from Tuft’s University and a master’s degree in policy sciences in management from University of Maryland Baltimore County. He serves on the board of directors for Baltimore Orchard Project and Johns Hopkins University Hillel and Civic Works. He resides in Reisterstown with his family.
