The Y provides mentor trainings through the Maryland Mentoring Resource Center (MMRC). MMRC is open to all mentors in any mentoring program in Maryland and has trained thousands of mentors throughout the region.

Mentor training programs are regularly scheduled to provide mentors with resources and guidance to further develop their mentor/mentee relationship and create longer lasting and fulfilling experiences.

Student Discipline Practices & Implications

The Public Justice Center is joining us to provide outreach and training regarding student suspension, expulsion, and other exclusionary discipline practices in Maryland public schools. They will share data and student stories that demonstrate why suspension and expulsion are ineffective, harmful, and have a disproportionate impact on students of color and students with disabilities. In addition, they will provide detailed information on the laws governing student discipline, and what students and families can do when faced with a suspension, expulsion, or other disciplinary removal. Finally, they're presentation will introduce positive practices to create healthy school climates and share school discipline resources for students and families.

Webinar: Fostering Healthy Transitions

April 9th

This workshop is designed to provide mentors with knowledge and tools they need to properly transition at the end of a formal mentoring relationship.  This session will give mentors the opportunity to reflect on their relationship, learn about the consequences of improperly closing a relationship, and understand best practices for transitioning the relationship.
