Knock, Knock. “Pizza Delivery from Y on the Fly!” This week, students participated in stretch sessions and used a game (Pizza Delivery) to not only work on physical health but team building and strategy as well. Pizza Delivery involves one student standing in the middle of a hula hoop while the remaining members of the team work together to hold the hula hoop and prevent it from touching the “delivery man/woman” until they get the pizza (bean bag) to a house safely.
McCormick’s Seasonings used this week: Cumin, Garlic Salt, Oregano (Pizza Hummus)
While making Pizza Hummus, Ms. Megan taught the students that beans are a great source of plant protein and that whole grains help our brains and give us a boost of energy.
Here’s what the kids said:
“I always thought I hated hummus but this is so good!”
“I cannot wait to make this at home!”
Other activities included Dodgeball, Hungry Fox, 3 Line Basketball, Bean bag toss and Hula hoop Tic-Tac-Toe. (9 hula hoops are place on the ground. Students are broken off into two teams must race get three bean bags in a row)
Y on the Fly visited Sinclair Elementary, Grace Beyond Walls, Church of the Good, Shepherd-Camp Imagination, Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Y Head Start Commodore John Rodgers, Summer R.E.A.D.S, Wolfe Street Academy, Baltimore Curriculum Project, Brehms Lane Elementary and Day of Hope.
