For the past 12 years, Shannon Cuffley has worked to make a difference in the lives of children as a volunteer mentor. Through her employer, T. Rowe Price, and along with over 20 colleagues, Shannon is part of the workplace mentoring program at Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Y. Each week, students from local schools visit the T. Rowe Price offices to meet with their mentors. Says Shannon, "It's always an exciting day when the children come to the office. You can hear them coming down the hall and you can feel their energy."
Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Y and the workplace mentoring program is just one of several mentoring programs the Y offers. Recently, Reagan Warfield, a popular radio host at Mix 106.5, sat down with Shannon and Derryck Fletcher, VP, Youth Development at the Y in Central Maryland, to talk about mentoring and its impact not just on the mentees, but the mentors and the community.
