"The Y is my home away from home. I made friends here besides the exercise. It is a harmonious place."
I think this comment from Y member Oin Wang says a great deal about the Y experience we hope every single member and participant feels when they walk through our doors, wherever those doors are.
On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and every single day, may the Y be a place of comfort, opportunity, peace and fellowship for all; a true home away from home.
Thanks to everyone who works, volunteers and contributes to make this feeling of total acceptance and well-being that Oin Wang describes a reality for the tens of thousands of people across central Maryland who enter our Y home each day. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
On this Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, I leave you with one of his lesser known but eternally important quotes:
“The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important.”
At the Y and in this community, we strive for a greater and more connected quality of life for all of us.
All the best,
John
