Monday Mission Update - 2020.11.16

As Thanksgiving is only ten days away, the reality that we will all likely have very different (and smaller) gatherings is becoming more into focus. The Y’s annual Turkey Trot Charity 5k is quite a bit different this year also, although the tradition of doing something healthy with friends and/or family while helping others is still very much alive and well. Although it’s billed as a “virtual event,” this year’s Turkey Trot still involves actually running (or walking) in the great outdoors anytime the entire week of Thanksgiving (Nov 21-29) on any 3.1 mile course the participant chooses (Click here to find a suggested Turkey Trot race route near you).

It’s a great way to safely be with others and preserve a cherished tradition. We’re even hearing about families who have signed up relatives who can’t travel this year but are synchronizing their runs as a family event happening in various places at the same time!
If you haven’t already signed up, I hope you will use this opportunity to create a new tradition this year for yourself and those you love. When you do you will be giving those closest to you something positive to look forward to and enjoy.  It’s healthy for you and those you run with, and it’s extending a helping hand to the growing number of people in our community who need the Y’s support to stay connected to programs which are healthy, safe and supportive for them and their children.

This 30 second TV spot tells the story.

Don’t miss out! If you haven’t signed up yet, I urge you to click the button below to register for the Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K now.

I'm Ready!

Here is a small sampling of the outpouring of enthusiastic comments coming from devoted fans in our Turkey Trot Facebook group:

“Just signed my husband and me up for the virtual Turkey Trot. Looking forward to helping the community and earning our Thanksgiving calories!”

“Looking forward to the Trot with all of you in spirit this year. Keep on moving!”

“My goal is to complete the run with my recently adopted pup.”

“I’ll miss running with everyone this year, but I am happy that I can support the Y doing something I love. Happy Thanksgiving.”

Many thanks to the hard working Y associates who are devoted to making this year’s Turkey Trot Charity 5K a success for the runners and for the community we are pledged to help.

All the best,

John
