Sadly, Dancel Y membership associate Christopher Bush passed away unexpectedly this past Thursday evening. Only 55 years young, Chris joined the Dancel Y in Ellicott City team last winter. He was an active and highly engaged member of the Y prior to that.
When Chris was interviewing for the job, Mike Hines, the Associate Executive Director of the Dancel Y, asked him why he wanted to work at the Y. Chris’ answer sold Mike immediately: “I want to give back because the Y has meant so much to me and my health and well-being.”
Like so many Y associates, Chris was furloughed when COVID hit in March and the Y had to shut down. When the Dancel Y finally reopened to the public in June, Chris was enthusiastic to be back. Mike recalls a conversation when he thanked Chris for all that he was doing for the team. Without hesitation, Chris offered the following: “I am the one that is thankful to be here.”
That was the kind of person and Y associate that Chris was. He will be missed very much by so many.
At the appropriate time, a celebration of Chris' life will occur. We will keep you informed as plans are firmed up. In the meantime, please keep his wife Becky and their family in your thoughts and prayers.
All the best,
John
