Monday Mission Update - 2020-06-22

On Friday we opened a new chapter for the Y and for the community we serve, with most of our family center Ys successfully reopening after a 14 week period of being repurposed for the important work of caring for first responders’ children in the midst of a pandemic (which continues to rage).  Today, our day camps opened and with our preschools already back up and running and our Head Start and summer youth enrichment programming about to kick off mostly virtually, there is some level of familiarity to the Y landscape.

However, what appears to be familiar is really not.

Rather than writing much more, I want to share with you a short video which does a much better job than I could of describing this moment in our community’s and our Y’s history. This comes courtesy of our wonderful friends at Vanderpool Films, who donated their time to bring this powerful video to life. Thanks also go to our talented marketing team who wrote and developed it and "voice over talent" Michelle Becote-Jackson for lending her passionate voice to the narration.

All the best,

John
